We are proud to announce the successful completion of a two-phase laundry upgrade at Chris Hani Regional Laundry, transforming hygiene and linen capacity for Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) and surrounding facilities across the Soweto region.
Phase 1 : Washer Extractors
This project marked the end of an era as we decommissioned their legendary 18-compartment Continuous Batch Washer (CBW). After 28 years of tireless service, the 1998 veteran has officially retired to make way for the future of healthcare laundry.
To address linen backlogs and streamline operations, five SY1000 Washer Extractors have been installed. These 100kg capacity, state-of-the-art machines are engineered for:
- Rapid Throughput: Processing high volumes of linen quickly and effectively
- Superior Hygiene: Meeting the rigorous cleanliness standards required for hospital environments
- Operational Efficiency: Reducing downtime and optimising water and energy use
The Phase 1 site was officially handed over to the client on 14 April 2026.
Phase 2 : Tumble Driers
Phase 2 of the Chris Hani Regional Laundry upgrade focused on replacing ageing tumble dryers with new, high-performance units to resolve the bulk linen shortages that have long plagued bedding supply for hospitals and clinics across the Soweto region.
The new tumble dryers will overcome massive backlogs and significantly increase clean bedding capacity for CHBAH and surrounding facilities, including Carletonville Hospital, Bheki Mlangeni Hospital, and Community Health Centres across Soweto.
The Phase 2 site was officially handed over to the client on 2 June 2026.
