A long time equipment partner of Lead – Girbau Group recently received the Carles Ferrer Salat award for the Environment.
The award recognises “the technological improvements in the design of machinery to reduce environmental impact.”
This Wednesday, December 11th, Girbau received the Carlos Ferrer Salat award presented annually by Foment del Treball, in the Environment category.
The awards ceremony was held in the headquarters of Foment in Barcelona in the presence of the President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, and King Felipe VI, among other authorities and representatives of the business world.
Foment’s panel of judges honoured Girbau for “the continuous implementation of technological improvements in the design of machines to reduce environmental impact”.
According to Foment, the Carles Ferrer Salat awards are a gesture of gratitude for “the effort and determination of business people who are liberal, open-minded and defenders of knowledge and dialogue”.
The award recognises Girbau’s commitment to eco-design in having made it possible to reduce the consumption of water and energy in all the machines manufactured in a sector in which energy efficiency is key to the profitability of businesses.
The investment of 3.5% of its annual turnover in innovation and research, working alongside universities such as the UPC, has made it possible for Girbau to reduce the process time of its machinery by 23% and the consumption of water by 59% over the last 15 years.
Girbau’s president, Pere Girbau, who accepted the award, stressed that “it is a recognition for the company’s human team, which has always worked towards improving efficiency and sustainability, as well as providing value to customers as a result of the savings and profitability that these two core factors entail“.
