This is the heartwarming and inspirational story behind its success.

Founders Sivu and Justice Mongo, pictured here with their son, Adunyiswe, have created a viable and sustainable business out of nothing.

It all started back in 2010, when Siwu recognised that there was a great need amoungst her community for an affordable laundry service in Khayelitsha. She courageously quit her job, and opened up for business, equipped with only an old second-hand washer and a cooking scale, operating from the lounge of her small home.

It was only a few months later before her husband Justice quit his job to help her fill the demand. Together they routinely worked a 24 hour day… waking up through the night to load and unload washers and driers, turning their home into a thriving little business. It came not without great sacrifice to their family as the business operated from their dining room, so their children had to share a bedroom and sleep to the sounds of a tumble drier.

Through dedicated hard work and attention to service, over the years, their business has grown. They now have two branches in Khayelitsha – one in Ilitha Park and one in Mandalay, and currently employ 16 permanent staff.

Their story is best told in this video:

Ziyahlanjwa Laundry Services have the capability to process almost any laundry work whether that is walk-in customers with clothing or blankets or expensive suits (through their new wet cleaning technology), right through to bed and breakfasts, small hotels, factories, schools and also healthcare work, as they can process laundry with thermal disinfection in the wash cycle.

If there’s anyone who has laundry work to process, we highly recommend you support these wonderful people.
